Perfect Day at CocoCay

As promised, here is a note on CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. This island has been upgraded to host approximately 9 thousand people and has many attractions, both complimentary and for a fee.

It boasts a huge pool, many beaches, restaurants, a all inclusive restaurant with floating cabanas to rent (they go fast), a water park and a balloon ride, weather permitting. You can spend the day and have lunch at one of the many food shacks, enjoying complimentary chaise lounges at one of the beaches, or at the huge pool without spending a penny. Or go to the paid amenities. The beverage package from the ship and the WiFi both work here.

If you don’t care much for walking, there are two tram service, one from the ship to the island and one that goes around the several spots. The island is handicapped accessible and has special wheelchairs for the sand.

We visited around lunch time with two ships on port, ours, the Symphony and also the Odyssey, both with reduced passenger capacity because of CDC regulations on account of the pandemic, which gave us plenty of room everywhere.

Unfortunately, a storm came within the hour and we had to leave together with the rest of the guests to seek refuge onboard the ship. Not before Alfred snapped a lot of pictures for you to get an idea of what it looks like.

Very nice place to spend the day, with entertainment or chill in a quiet corner of a beach. We are hoping to repeat the experience with better weather and getting down much earlier to be able to enjoy all the island has to offer.
