This time we had Axel Hildebrandt visit us from Mass, and we took the opportunity to make our last visit to the lake this season. Most of the chicks have fledged, although the late ones are still nest-bound. The lake continues to be a little piece of Heaven, and although there has not been as much activity this year as the last, there was still plenty to do and see. We had a bit of a haze making pictures possible for a little longer than usual, with as much contrast. These birds are difficult to expose once the light gets very bright.
All images were captured with the Canon 1d4 or 7d, and the 500/4L IS, with or without the 1.4X or the 100-44L IS. They were all processed in CS5, with Nik’s Define, Sharpener Pro and Color Efex. No tripod was used, since the vibration of the boat gets magnified with its use.
Enjoy!
